Occupational Therapy

Watsonville Community Hospital is here to help you get back to work (and other daily activities). Our occupational therapy specialists work with patients to improve strength, flexibility, endurance and tolerance after an injury or illness, with the goal of becoming independent. Active participation is important, and with the help of our experienced therapists in a setting that’s close to home, we collaborate with patients in getting them back to themselves and their routines.

Our occupational therapy evaluation and treatment plans focus on self-care, pain management, joint protection, use of adaptive equipment, safety awareness, and strength and coordination programs, as well as other independent living skills.

Physical Therapy

After injury or illness, physical therapy helps patients get back to work, play and their lives. Watsonville Community Hospital’s team works to create programs that improve movement, balance, endurance and strength for patients, helping them move—onward, upward and forward.

Watsonville Community Hospital provides physical therapy for a variety of conditions. Our physical therapists use a hands-on approach that combines manual therapy, exercise equipment and electrical modalities for pain relief. In addition, we offer customized home exercise programs, posture training and education in proper movement patterns for long-term life benefits and health.

Speech Therapy

Watsonville Community Hospital offers a number of speech therapy services with a wide variety of techniques and programs designed to help people communicate better. We consider treatment a collaboration: our experienced therapy staff also works with physicians, dietitians and nurses to evaluate patients’ swallowing function and recommend safe feeding tactics when needed.

Our speech-language pathology services focus on communication, language and feeding problems. Pathologists provide thorough evaluations and effective treatment interventions.
