Outpatient Services
Some of the surgeries that we perform at Watsonville Community Hospital are outpatient services, meaning they don’t require a hospital stay. Patients come in, have surgery, recover for a few hours and then return home by the end of the day. Advanced technology continues to make outpatient surgery an option for more and more disorders and illnesses, making this type of treatment a possibility for more patients every year.
The Recovery Room and the Same Day Surgery Unit provide Level I and Level II anesthesia nursing care. Here, registered nurses perform assessments, evaluations, education and treatment to all outpatients.
Watsonville Community Hospital offers pre-admission testing services, located in the ambulatory surgery/same day surgery area, where you will receive information on what to expect and how prepare for your surgical procedure. This process helps ease the anxiety that naturally occurs before surgery. We also encourage loved ones to accompany patients during pre-admission to learn about the process and how to provide support.
Every patient must have a responsible adult provide a ride home after surgery and someone to stay with them for the first 24 hours at home.
Ancillary services, such as laboratory, imaging or pulmonary studies can be scheduled through our department. We offer preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative care for the following surgical specialties:

Other clinical functions include:
- Pre and post-invasive procedure assessment, monitoring and observation for patients undergoing invasive procedures in Radiology, the Cardiac Catheterization Lab and Special Procedures

- Pre-operative studies
